Explore the “City by the Bay” Tour

Rise and Shine! A glistening sunny bay will likely greet you on the first morning as your group enjoys breakfast and prepares to meet your motor coach and local tour guide, Steve Dow, for a city tour. You can expect to see Chinatown – a place where foreign culture comes alive on domestic soil with incredible flair and foods. Soak in Pacific Heights with its panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay, the Palace of Fine Arts and Alcatraz! Then, go back in time to the famous cross streets of Haight-Ashbury and feel the “peace and love” in the birthplace of 1960s hippie culture. Visit Embarcadero where street meets seas and the charming but crooked Lombard Street. After a delicious seafood lunch visit the Golden Gate Bridge, Twin Peaks and Fisherman’s Wharf. Next up it is time to put the group in lock down after a ferry ride to Alcatraz and a guided tour of the former Federal prison. We find prison tours are a great way to keep your students on the straight and narrow! After a return ferry ride, appetites can be satisfied with a dinner at Bubba Gumps and some relaxing, shopping and browsing on Pier 39.

Day two starts off with a self-guided tour at the Muir Woods National Monument. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and work up an appetite for lunch at the Bayside Café. After lunch it is off to California & Grant where the Chinese lanterns overhead and bright vibrant colors awaken the senses and the soul. No, you are not in China – but the energy is alive as you enjoy a guided (walking tour) around China Town, and the Union Square area. The tour is just full of Instagram worthy attractions including: The Hearts of Union Square (Great photo op), Frank Lloyd Wright Building, Dewey Monument, and the Flood Building. But nothing, NOTHING screams “SAN FRAN!!” like a streetcar ride on the trolley. Up, down, up, down, – memories all the way! After all that walking and riding it is time for a dinner at the famous Luigi’s restaurant – mangiare!!! After all that pasta it will be a carb coma and lights out as you end a fabulous day 2!

Gilligan and crew departed for what they would be a 3 hour tour …but your Segway Scavenger Hunt actually will be! One of the hands down coolest team building activities, your group will work together to explore and find their way through the city one clue at a time! Once the mystery is solved, the explorers can become scientists as they head off to the California Academy of Sciences. Tour the Steinhart Aquarium and Osher Reef, one of the most biologically diverse and interactive aquariums on Earth. Home to nearly 40,000 live animals, representing more than 900 unique species, it offers guests an unprecedented view of underwater and terrestrial habitats. Once your group resurfaces it is off to Ghirardelli Square – full of delicious fare for all! Later that evening take in a game at the Giants Baseball game – ending your trip with a literal HOME RUN!
