College Tours

Once junior year of high school rolls around, it’s time to start the conversation that can be pretty overwhelming to parents and students alike – what colleges do you want to apply to? Visiting a campus can help students narrow down their choices and find their new home for the next four years. While of course it’s impossible to see every school in the nation, we recommend picking one area and visiting a variety of colleges within it.

Start off your New England journey with the University of Connecticut. Filled with UCONN Husky pride, this public university has one of the best college basketball teams in the nation. Take a guided tour and attend an information session to see if there’s a paw-sibility of becoming a Husky yourself! Next, depart for the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. While you always hear about “starving college students,” be sure that won’t be the case at this campus – Princeton Review voted UMass Amherst as having the best campus food! Make sure to test it out yourself and grab lunch before your tour and information session. After a long day of tours, it’s time to head back to the hotel, eat dinner and prepare for round two tomorrow.

Eat breakfast at the hotel and depart for Boston University. This campus is located right in the heart of the city across from the famous Fenway Park – home to the Boston Red Sox. This bustling city is booming, especially in the health care and technology fields. Take a guided tour and grab lunch in the dining hall before traveling to your next stop, Northeastern University. This school stands out for its unique program that combines both academic study and co-op jobs, providing valuable hands-on experience to students. Chat about your options over dinner at Faneuil Hall and, if you’re lucky, you may be able to catch a hockey game at Northeastern!

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Providence College – home of the Friars! This campus is on the smaller side, with approximately 3,800 undergraduates, providing a more intimate alternative to big-city schools that you saw previously. Located in a vibrant college town, take a guided tour and attend an information session. Grab lunch in the dining hall before driving a quick ten minutes down the street to the Rhode Island School of Design. This college is considered a premier arts incubator and only offers 16 undergraduate majors in architecture, fine arts, and design. After visiting several schools around the New England area, you can discuss your options on the drive home and see if you’ve found your future fit!
